Vlasta Pastuović Aleksić


Born in Sisak, Croatia, on the 7th of November, 1963. Vlasta initally studied law and jurisprudence at the University of Zagreb until she discontinued her studies to take up languages at Harrows College of Further Education, London, England.


Education in the Fine Arts


In 1989 she starts to immerse herself with Fine Arts. Receiving her education and training at the Centre for Arts of the City of Zagreb she studied clay modeling under the academic painter/ceramist, Prof. Višnja Markovinović; academic sculptor Prof. Nikola Pečko; pottery under the late Prof. Visnja Jelačić; drawing with Prof. Dora Kovačevic; ceramic figurine sculpting under the late Prof. Ivana Jelačić, and, ceramics under Diana Sokolić.


Exhibitions


Between 1989 to 2006, Vlasta participated in approximately 50 group and held 18 solo exhibitions in Croatia and France. In 1997, she was invited to participate in the city of Turckheim's, France, annual program, "Art Expo '97". Her exhibitions included landscapes and still life using the medium of oil on canvas. Vlasta was invited to participate in the 2005 showing of "La semaine du petit format", organised by the Union for Arts and Culture, "Vallis Pranobilis", Soultzmatt, France.


Memberships


Vlasta Pastuović Aleksić has been a member of the Croatian Association of Artists since 2000 and in the same year became a member of Cooperative Society of Visual Artists of Croatia In 2003, she becomes a member of Croatian Ceramics Association "Kerameikon" in the city of Varaždin. Her works are on permanent display within cultural and corporate institutions, and in private collections in Croatia, Germany, Canada, Italy, France and Denmark.
